One of our favorite things to make is custom business signage! In this blog post, we’ll cover all of the basics for how to mount your sign directly to the wall using double sided mounting tape.
LASER CUT SIGN / CARDBOARD INSTALLATION TEMPLATE / LEVEL / PENCIL / TAPE MEASURE
SCISSORS / INDUSTRIAL DOUBLE SIDED MOUNTING TAPE / PAINTERS TAPE
Mark the height of where you’d like the top of your sign to be at on the wall - then add amount of space that was added around your lettering/logo on the cardboard installation template. Most of the time we leave 1 or 2 inches of cardboard around the letters, however depending on your logo type, this might vary.
Make a leveled line on your height mark using a pencil. Then mark the center of where you’d like your sign to hang.
Measure your cardboard installation template to find the centerline, mark on the install template with your pencil. Match this line with the line on the wall. Then tape your template to the wall using masking tape.
Apply double sided mounting tape to your letters or logo. The amount of mounting tape required varies based on the brand of mounting tape and the weight of your pieces! If your pieces have a protective masking on the surface, remove the masking from the back of the pieces, but leave the masking on the front surface
Remove the backing of the double sided mounting tape and press your letters into the cardboard template to attach them to the wall. *Instructions may vary slightly depending on what type of mounting tape you’re using!
Remove the cardboard installation template from the wall. Remove protective masking from the front side of your pieces (if applicable). Admire your beautiful laser cut sign!
